13 May 2021 – ClimateWise is pleased to welcome its newest member and first law firm, DAC Beachcroft, into its global insurance industry collaboration committed to reducing the impact of climate change on society.

Denise Eastlake, Head of the DAC Beachcroft Climate Change Desk, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have joined ClimateWise.  We have increasingly been advising our insurance clients on the legal challenges arising from climate change, so by becoming members, we are practising what we preach.  As the first law firm to join and a key legal supplier to the global insurance industry, we are able to add value to the discussions and play our part in tackling climate change risks.”

Virginia Clegg, Senior Partner of DAC Beachcroft, added:

“Membership of ClimateWise is fully aligned with our Responsible Business strategy.  This has generated a lot of excitement within the business as our colleagues recognise the scale of the challenge posed by climate change and take pride in the market-leading steps we have taken to become involved.”

Bronwyn Claire, Senior Programme Manager at ClimateWise said:

“It is great to expand the membership of ClimateWise to legal professionals and I look forward to working with DAC Beacroft on insights of the legal challenges of climate change for insurance and how insurance policies can be better designed to be climate-ready.”

Convened by The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, ClimateWise represents a growing network of over 35 global insurance organisations, including (re)insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and industry bodies, helping them align their combined expertise in responding to the risks and opportunities of climate change.

ClimateWise also carries out research and its members are required annually to disclose their firm’s response to climate change through the ClimateWise Principles framework.
