Master's students at the University of Cambridge become members of a College, which provides pastoral support within a stimulating academic community. |
Wolfson College serves as the main hosts for the Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment (SLBE) programme and is where the majority of Masters students find membership. Wolfson is home to a thriving community of students from around the world, two-thirds of whom are pursuing Master's and PhD degrees. Wolfson offers specialist student support and services, including financial support and an academic skills programme. They have excellent College facilities, including a 24/7 College library, dining hall and coffee bar, gym & tennis court.
We recommend all SLBE Masters candidates apply to Wolfson College. Candidates can apply to another College, but those who choose to do so should be aware that the College membership application might not be successful, and, if successful, we cannot guarantee similar levels of support would be available, especially outside the normal University terms. If applicants do not indicate a preference for a particular College, then their application will be submitted to Wolfson College.
Once a College member, students remain a member for life, and this typically includes some on-going opportunity to book accommodation and formal dinners and being invited to College alumni events.
Teaching and social venues
The programme is expected to be delivered at a range of venues across Cambridge, ensuring that students experience the breadth of resources that the University has to offer.
During residential workshops college members can book to attend formal hall which is a regular dining event at the college.
Accommodation
To foster a collegiate atmosphere during the intensive workshops students are encouraged to book accommodation at their College. Accommodation at these colleges is very reasonably priced, especially for members of the College. It also offers reasonable quality and rooms have basic furnishing and en-suite bathrooms; however, it does not provide full hotel standards of service and convenience.
Students are not obliged to take up the offer of accommodation; however staying in College is encouraged, since it offers practical benefits and enhances the experience of Cambridge student life.
