Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

12 May 2026 - CISL celebrates the graduation of the first cohort of Flexible Route students from the Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership, recognising a major milestone for working professionals seeking to accelerate their impact on global sustainability challenges.

Studied part-time alongside their careers, members of Cohort 1 have progressed through CISL’s staged postgraduate pathway – from the Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Sustainable Business to the final Master’s stage – applying their learning in real time within organisations and systems around the world.

Reflecting on his experience, graduate Imran Shaikh said: “My MSt at CISL reshaped how I lead, bringing together sustainability, business, and policy to deliver practical, measurable impact and drive real, scalable change across complex environments.”

The flexible structure has enabled students to deepen their practice over several years while navigating demanding professional and personal commitments.

Fellow graduate Ross Sterling added: “The Flex route strengthened my critical thinking, deepened my approach to stakeholder engagement, and equipped me with the tools to use capital to drive better outcomes for companies, investors and society.”

Together, Cohort 1 exemplifies the programme’s aim: to develop leaders who can respond effectively to economic, social and environmental challenges and inspire others to deliver positive change.
