12:30 - 13:00: Zero Emission Aviation: The Sky is the Limit - Business and Philanthropy Forum - Expo City Dubai

How can we scale up the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), how can we accelerate the development of long-haul hydrogen flight, and how can we mitigate the climate impact of aircraft-induced clouds? The panel will identify the key policies, investments, and technologies, needed over the next five years to achieve zero-climate-impact aviation by 2050.

14:00 - 16:50: Loss and Damage implementation roundtable and panel - Island of Hope

CISL’s new briefing, Risk sharing for Loss and Damage: Scaling up protection for the Global South, offers a breakthrough in the design of the global architecture for Loss and Damage (L&D) using the economic efficiency of risk capital markets, which can convert modest annual flows from donors into major contractual entitlements for vulnerable countries when disasters strike, now and through to 2050.

 

15:00 - 16:00: Mobilising climate-nature finance in the international financing architecture (EU side event) - online

This partner event with EU CLIMA will focus on strengthening collaboration between financial firms and international financing institutions to drive sustainable investments.

 

15:00 - 16:00: Innovation – UNICEF Innovation 30: UNICEF Pavilion

Supported by CISL, this event aims to announce and showcase the UNICEF’s first global cohort of Innovation 30 winners. The initiative champions young innovators as the key stakeholders, technical experts, and creators of a climate climate-resilient future for all. The first global cohort of young innovators will be launched at COP28.

10:00 - 11:00: Unite Generations Through Impact Investing and Accelerate Sustainability Innovation - UICCA Pavilion, Green Zone

This session also aims to stimulate dialogue and action among family office investors regarding the critical role they can play in advancing sustainability initiatives across society. 

 

12:15 - 13:15: CLG UK Energy Transition roundtable: taking forward the development of the energy declaration - We Mean Business Pavilion Boardroom

This event aims to build on the Business of Leading the Energy Transition (BLET) roundtable convened by the UK Corporate Leaders Groups, SSE plc, Accenture, Aviva, Hitachi and NatWest Group in October 2023. This follow-up event aims to explore the challenges, opportunities, and next steps in developing the declaration and connecting to the COP process, where the UK government could take a lead in developing an energy transition that is swift, secure and just.

 

14:30 - 15:30: A socially-inclusive transition to a European circular economy - GCCA Pavilion

This event will launch our new report exploring the social elements around employment. We will hear from businesses and stakeholders around how a transition to a circular economy can be made in a just and fair way.

 

15:30 - 17:00: Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership, CLG UK and CLG Europe bilateral - Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City

A bilateral meeting between CEOs from Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership, the UK Corporate Leaders Group, and Corporate Leaders Group Europe to share best practice on climate policy advocacy.

16:00 - 17:00: Aviation Impact Accelerator event: ‘Whole system collaboration to Accelerate Net-Zero Flight' - First Abu Dhabi Bank Theatre, Finance Climate Hub

This collaborative panel event will leverage the Aviation Impact Accelerator’s interactive tool and inputs from industry stakeholders to showcase the impact of whole sector action on the aviation sector’s transition to net zero.

 

17:15 - 18:15: UK Government roundtable: Fuelling the future of aviation: scaling sustainable aviation fuels in the UK and globally - UK Pavilion, Blue Zone, Expo City Dubai

Join the UK Government for a panel discussion between leaders from across the aviation sector, civil society, academia and finance on the importance, benefits and barriers to global Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) growth, and as we present the progress the UK has made in driving the supply and demand for SAF and supporting wider aviation decarbonisation. Prof Rob Miller and Dr Paul Hodgson will present at this event.

 

19:30 - 22:00: UK Corporate Leaders Group dinner with SSE - “Accelerating the Energy Transition Globally: Exploring Lessons and Identifying Key Areas for Collective Action” : Dubai

A CLG UK networking dinner hosted in partnership with SSE, bringing together a select group of UK and international policy makers, businesses and key stakeholders on the fringes of COP28.

Complimentary networking event in Dubai, for members of the CISL Network based in the region or attending COP28.

17:00 - 19:00: Leading in the Race to Zero: UK business action on meeting net zero emissions by 2050 - We Mean Business Coalition Business Pavilion

Hosted by the UK Corporate Leaders Group and featuring leading UK businesses across sectors, this event will seek to showcase the actions UK businesses are taking to support the government in meeting its net zero by 2050 target and explore the opportunities and challenges for business and government to take further action.

11:00 - 12:30: Corporate Leaders Group roundtable - We Mean Business Pavilion

The aim of this event is to highlight how businesses are engaging on nature policy. 9 December is marked for discussions on nature, land use and oceans, and it is an excellent opportunity to showcase the joint appetite of businesses and EU decision-makers to align climate and nature action.

 

13:30 - 14:30: CLG UK-led business roundtable with the Climate Change Committee - We Mean Business Pavilion Boardroom

This closed-door roundtable event aims to connect UK Corporate Leaders Group members and the wider UK business community with the Climate Change Committee (CCC) and will be attended by Chris Stark and other committee members.

13:15 - 14:45: UNFCCC Official Side-Event: Unpacking the biodiversity-climate nexus: opportunities and challenges

It is widely recognised that the climate change and biodiversity loss crises are deeply interlinked and need to be addressed holistically. This event will critically examine the conditions under which such integration can be achieved.

 

18:00 - 20:00: Green Growth Partnership dinner, Slovenian Pavilion

CLG Europe is organising a high-level Green Growth Partnership dinner, hosted by Bojan Kumer, Slovenian Minister of the Environment, Climate and Energy, at COP 28.
