This event aims to build on the Business of Leading the Energy Transition (BLET) roundtable convened by the UK Corporate Leaders Groups, SSE plc, Accenture, Aviva, Hitachi and NatWest Group in October 2023. The roundtable brought together over 200 business leaders, senior politicians, academics and civil society representatives to discuss the numerous opportunities and challenges we face, and how we collaborate effectively to unlock the full potential of the energy transition for the UK. It also introduced the Energy Declaration proposed by event partners, calling for a ‘swift, secure and just energy transition’. This declaration aims to develop a strong commitment from cross-sector businesses to achieving clean power by 2035 at the latest and a clear call for UK public policy that supports its implementation.
This follow-up event aims to explore the challenges, opportunities, and next steps in developing the declaration and connecting to the COP process, where the UK government could take a lead in developing an energy transition that is swift, secure and just.
