Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

24 May 2024 - CISL is pleased to announce that His Majesty The King will remain Royal Founding Patron of the Institute, following a review of Royal Patronages.

The King has been Patron of the Institute for over 30 years and has inspired and supported many of CISL’s initiatives during his time as The Prince of Wales, including launching the Business & Sustainability Programme in1994; the Corporate Leaders Groups in 2005; ClimateWise in 2007; the Global Sustainability Fellowship Programme in 2018 and most recently the Aviation Impact Accelerator, amongst others.

The King visited Cambridge last year in his first public appearance after his Coronation to break ground for the new Whittle Laboratory and to meet leaders of the Aviation Impact Accelerator, a joint project hosted by CISL and Cambridge’s Whittle Laboratory.

In 2022 he opened the Entopia Building, CISL’s headquarters and a leading sustainable retrofit building which hosts our staff, projects and the Canopy workspace and community for sustainability ventures.

The King has long been a leading voice and passionate advocate for sustainability, not least through the charities and initiatives he supports, and we are proud of this association.
