Elanor’s expertise is studying and understanding the built environment, and how to apply this learning and research in practice. With a background in architecture and urban design practice, she has been research fellow at UCL, established the Research Manager role at the Peabody Trust, and spent over seven years as Head of Research at CABE. Here she managed a diverse and extensive research programme covering all sectors of the built environment and the design process, providing evidence to shape national policy, and embed good design practices within the industry. With interests spanning the scale of well-designed buildings to sustainable cities, recent research / projects have included the implementation of Lifetime Neighbourhoods with GLA and devising the £4M “Rethinking the Build Process” competition for the Technology Strategy Board. Elanor is currently Head of Strategic Research at Affinity Sutton Housing Association. She is also a postgraduate supervisor at the Bartlett, UCL, sits on the RIBA R&D committee, Building Futures Group, the Edge and is an academician of the Academy of Urbanism.
