April 2003 – Sustainable development will remain by far the biggest challenge all the way through to the end of this century. If we get it right, the genius and technological virtuosity of the human species will enable us to fashion elegant, regenerative and genuinely sustainable ways of meeting human needs and aspirations. If we get it wrong, the consequences could indeed be dire.
