7 October 2019 – The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) has joined together with other influential organisations working with forward-thinking businesses to form the Business for Nature coalition.

The coalition intends to demonstrate business action and amplify a powerful business voice calling for governments to reverse nature loss.

Each year CISL works with business, government and finance leaders in over 250 organisations including consumer brands, global banks and national governments, to develop leadership and solutions for a sustainable economy. For over 8 years CISL has convened the Natural Capital Impact Group of companies, which works collaboratively to determine how business can sustain the natural world and its resources through its strategies and operating practices.

The Business for Nature Coalition has launched a business consultation survey for businesses of all sectors, sizes and geographies to contribute their experience and expertise to the policy recommendations that Business for Nature will take to governments at key events in 2020, creating a strong united business voice calling for policies to address the nature crisis.

The survey will run until November 30 and can be completed here.

In contributing to the Business for Nature Coalition, CISL will draw on its Centre for Policy and Industrial Transformation and its Centre for Business Transformation.

CISL’s Centre for Policy and Industrial Transformation brings together businesses and policymakers to co-develop solutions to the climate crisis and broader sustainability challenges. The CPIT hosts The Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group, it’s European counterpart CLG Europe, and the Green Growth Partnership.

The Centre for Business Transformation works with influential businesses and their stakeholders to explore the critical questions that will inform the future of corporations, enabling the ‘rewiring’ of business through the development of commercially viable, high-impact solutions and effective approaches to embed sustainability across culture, governance, leadership and systems. The Centre hosts the Natural Capital Impact Group and the Catchment Leadership Network, a network designed to create multi-sector water management in the UK.
