15 July 2024 – CISL was pleased to welcome Daniel Zeichner, MP for Cambridge, to Entopia for a tour of our award-winning sustainable HQ and our Canopy community.
Eliot Whittington, Chief Systems Change Officer, and Beverley Cornaby, Director of Corporate Leaders Group UK, showed Daniel Zeichner around our award-winning retrofit HQ and discussed the process of the retrofit, and the impact that a fully sustainable workplace has on staff and the wider built environment industry as a whole. They also discussed the important role that CISL is playing within the Cambridge and University ecosystem and wider world to create impact; including plans for COP16 and our efforts to deliver change for people, nature and climate.
Mr Zeichner was also introduced to Advanced Infrastructure - a long-standing member of our Canopy start up community - who is contributing to decarbonisation work in Cambridge and around the country.
Lily Cairns Haylor, Co-founder & Head of Product, and Christopher Jackson, Co-founder and CEO, explained how they were working with local authorities and facilitating the delivery of new green energy projects, an approach that Mr Zeichner noted was exactly the kind of approach that the new Labour government would be keen to support the market to deliver.
Daniel Zeichner said: "I was very pleased to visit Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership at the Entopia Building, and was most impressed by their offices, which are retrofitted to exemplary sustainability standards from the circular economy where viable. The Institute strives to enable the best achievement for climate change, nature and social outcomes by bridging academia and business."
