From 22-29 September, a CISL delegation is to join over 1,000 leaders drawn from governments, corporations and civil society at Climate Week NYC. More than 600 diverse events and activities will take place during the week, united by the theme “It’s Time”. The theme emphasises the urgent need to accelerate solutions for a sustainable economy.
Many sustainability problems are still growing faster than the solutions, evidenced by another year of record-breaking global temperatures in 2024. This Climate Week NYC creates a valuable opportunity for CISL to unite and convene global business leaders and policymakers to drive impact at pace.
CISL’s delegation includes: interim CEO Lindsay Hooper, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Finance; Dr. Nina Seega, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Finance; Ursula Woodburn, Director of the Corporate Leader Group Europe; and Director of Policy and Systems Change Collaboration, Beverley Cornaby. By leveraging the unique convening power of CISL, they will bring together leaders capable of aligning economic, policy and commercial decision-making with sustainability.

With nature skyrocketing up the agenda for both the public and private sector, this event will seek to demonstrate to the audience how we are moving from the “so what?” (why is nature important?) to “now what?” (what role does it play in their lending and investment decisions?). The purpose is to demonstrate the path forward and opportunity for action on nature for private finance, using practical, real-world examples from leading practitioners to bring this to life.
Breakout table discussions will be used to gain feedback from participants that will inform CISL’s messaging and inputs to discussions at COP 16. The discussion will be followed by networking and light refreshments.
