Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Business Green Net Zero Festival 29 September 2021 - 1 October 2021: CISL is delighted to partner with Business Green on a series of workshops at this year's Net Zero Festival. Details of these sessions are available below.

The Net Zero Festival will bring together some of the world's foremost thinkers on what it takes to accelerate and expand the net zero transition and we'd urge business executives, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and campaigners to join us in exploring how to navigate what is the defining economic, political, and technological trend of the age. The Festival will be delivered entirely online, further detais and registration can be found on the Net Zero Festival website.

  • Effective boards in a carbon-constrained world, Wednesday 29 September 2021, 9:45 - 10:45 BST: Are Boards equipped to lead their organisation into a carbon-constrained world? What shifts will be needed to grow a business while delivering Net Zero emissions? How will governance need to shift in a world of system-shocks? The pathway to Net Zero will require hard choices.

This session will explore how Boards are building knowledge, expanding thinking and informing strategic responses for the 21st Century. From Covid-19 and climate change, Board members are increasingly having to grapple with ‘untraditional’ business risks. But how are leading organisations coping with these changes? Which practices are working well and how are boards prepare themselves for this new context?

  • Financing Net Zero in the built environment, Thursday 30 September 2021, 9:30 - 10:30 BST: Deep retrofitting of UK buildings presents triple benefit of economic, social and environmental opportunities. The solutions required to harness these opportunities are largely proven - this session will focus on the finance, policy & regulation measures required to accelerate the pace and scale of their deployment.

  • What is your unique contribution to deliver sustainable lives for a world of 9 billion people?, Friday 1 October 2021, 9:30 - 10:30 BST: A new type of leadership is emerging. It is one that requires a different approach to navigating the critical and complex leadership challenges of our time that often do not have readily available or elegant solutions. Such wicked problems are not only complex but multi-faceted, dynamic, unbounded, contested and cannot be solved without employing a systems thinking mind set.

Join experts from CISL’s global flagship HRH Prince of Wales’s Business and Sustainability Programme Global Steering Committee, to explore how they engage senior leaders in letting go of the search for easy answers to tackle the most fundamental and messy challenges that we face.
