Aims and benefits

The Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Business is part of CISL’s mission to empower individuals and organisations to take leadership to tackle critical global challenges.

More specifically, it aims to provide an academically grounded, highly participatory and applied forum for learning around topical sustainability issues, to help professionals:

  • Develop understanding and application of tools and techniques based around co-creating solutions, collaboration, innovation and design
  • Contribute to professional debate about sustainability issues with colleagues from other job functions
  • Engage and challenge sustainability ‘tools’ analysing their suitability to address their own organisational challenges
  • Hone leadership skills in order to effectively respond to organisational / sectoral sustainability challenges.’

"My objective was to learn more on the usage of business model innovation tools and the objective was achieved."

Galina Shishkova, PG Diploma student, Project Manager, Global Sustainability, C&A

Programme structure

The Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) comprises two stages.

PG Dip Stage 1 consists of completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Business (Organisational or Value chains stream).

PG Dip Stage 2: following  successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate, participants move to the individually tailored PG Dip Stage 2.

Read about the key components of the Postgraduate Diploma.

Please note: the details of Stage 2 of the Diploma are under review and subject to changes for 2021 entry as part of the new flexible route to the MSt Sustainability Leadership.

"The individual assignments set throughout the course gave me the opportunity to reflect on the topics that we had learnt and how these could be applied to real world examples. They answered questions that I had asked throughout my career."

Galina Parmenter, PG Diploma student, Project Manager, Global Sustainability, C&A

Successful completion of the course results in a Postgraduate Diploma awarded by the University of Cambridge. This carries 120 CATS points at Level M and is equivalent to two-third of a Master's degree.

We are currently working with the University to develop a route from the Diploma to the Master’s programme.
