last modified Jan 31, 2020 12:51 PM
January 2020 – Over 300 students from 78 countries have studied the MSt in Sustainability Leadership since the course launched in 2010, and last year the course attracted a record number of applications. Now entering its eleventh year, this unique course empowering business leaders to tackle critical challenges is more vital than ever.

The deadline to apply for the course is 20 February 2020.

Last year the Master’s celebrated its tenth year, bringing together our global network of alumni to reconnect with their fellow students, network with others from different cohorts and reflect upon the value of the course.

Looking ahead, 2020 will be a critical decade for the alignment of sustainable transformation and business purpose. Building the leadership required to accelerate progress across all sectors and industries will be key in order to meet the targets of progressive businesses.

Through a combination of interdisciplinary insights, academic analysis, practical business application, peer learning and personal reflection, the Master's aims to develop a community of leaders who have:

  • a wide awareness and deep understanding of the social, environmental, ethical and economic challenges and opportunities facing the world
  • the vision and ambition to drive business leadership to achieve real systems change
  • the knowledge, experience and ability to critically evaluate a range of strategic levers for change
  • the leadership capacity and confidence at a personal and organisational level to best use these levers to effect transformation

We're proud of the many achievements of our alumni and delighted that many have chosen to share their own stories of impact

“The course equipped me with the knowledge to move to the next level of my career. I had developed the expertise and confidence to use sustainability frameworks and models so fund managers could use that knowledge to ‘do well by doing good’."

Elena Vydrine, Head of Portfolio Management and ESG Integration at Ryedale

"Over the two-year Master’s course I was in Cambridge for four week-long workshops where I was working with and talking to members of my cohort from breakfast time until late into the evening. The support we gave each other was invaluable. Professionally, the courses definitely gave me the credibility and skills to communicate and be a leader on sustainability issues within my working environment."

Andrew Phillips, Rural Director of Finance, Duchy of Cornwall

“Nearly every class session would induce some sort of micro-epiphany in me…

After each workshop, I always felt the urgent need to act, to move, to make a difference. Such was the power of CISL.”

Katerina Fragos, Manager of Sustainability and Climate Change at P&G Canada
