Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership

Kayla is Course Director for the University of Cambridge’s Master’s and Postgraduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) and Senior Programme Manager at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).

Kayla is a licensed New York State Architect with 10 years professional experience. During this time she has explored the challenges of improving sustainability in the built environment at multiple scales, and engaged diverse stakeholders in vision creation and implementation in the US and UK.  Kayla’s PhD, from the University of Cambridge, looks at how English planning impacts the thermal improvement of conservation properties.  She holds a Master's of Architecture and Master's of Urban Design from Washington University in St Louis, and a BSc from the University of Virginia.  In addition to built environment expertise, Kayla teaches research methods across all of CISL’s graduate programmes, and is particularly interested in how continuing education for working professionals can enhance and enrich their professional practice. In her spare time she is an avid home cook, and enjoys to travel.

The IDBE Master’s and Postgraduate Certificate provide a bridge across fragmented working practices to accelerated future-proofed careers. A flexible, part-time course structured around built environment practitioners, IDBE helps ambitious built environment professionals meet the increasing demands of their market and sector and invigorate their personal development.
