Simon is an experienced sustainability professional with fifteen years experience helping banks and financial institutions understand and manage ESG risks and opportunities presented by their client portfolios and operations. This experience has been developed during Simon’s time working within UK financial institutions – Lloyds Bank from 2004 to 2013 and Standard Chartered from 2013 to 2022 – and latterly as a Director at Baringa Partners. Over this time, Simon has supported and led ESG and sustainability teams focussing on client engagement, risk management and due diligence, stakeholder engagement and organisational strategy.

Across these roles Simon has brought his strength as a strategic thinker, enabling organisations to anticipate and respond to emerging themes. His deep policy and systems experience focused on supporting effective and informed decision-making, including in external roles including Co-Chair, Association of Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) Sustainable Finance Steering Committee, Chair, UN-convened Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) and Chair, University of Cambridge Banking Environment Initiative. Simon has a proven track record of building coalitions which achieve effective and long-lasting change, engaging and influencing senior leadership teams and boards. In this he is supported by his status as a qualified accountant and corporate treasurer.
