Andrea Westall has 30 years experience in public policy at local, national and international level – leading think tanks; advising government, being part of international taskforces and commissions, and as a Senior Research Fellow in academia. She uniquely combines this expertise with practical project implementation; as well as leadership, strategy, and governance of businesses and organisations, often working within and across the boundaries of business, government, civil society and academia to create multi-disciplinary and collaborative partnerships for change. Her areas of interest and expertise cover corporate law, business models, social economy,  innovation, and inclusive and sustainable economies.

Biography

Andrea was a founding partner of one of the first UK social investment organisations. Her book, Value-Led Market-Driven led to the creation of the Social Enterprise Unit in the UK Government which influenced thinking around the world. Recently she was part of the Corporate Advisory Group of the British Academy’s Future of the Corporation initiative; and a Commissioner on the Independent Commission on Sustainable Equality, S&D Group, European Parliament. She currently works on the Future of Boards Project at CISL; sits on several BSI sustainability committees; advises Friends Provident Foundation on funding applications to create systemic change, and is a trustee of the Foundation for Democracy and Sustainable Development.
