Alex has extensive knowledge of existing and emerging ESG policy, global ESG frameworks for change, as well as 20 years of practical experiencing in developing and delivering strategic ESG solutions across multi-national organisations.
He has spent the last ten years working at the intersection of organisational change and personal leadership in the finance sector, enabling senior leadership teams to define the responsible and purposeful leadership approaches needed to respond to myriad global ESG challenges.
After 7 years in sustainability consultancy, Alex spent 15 years at HSBC within the Global Sustainability and Strategy Functions, working with HSBC’s Global Investment, Commercial and Retail Banking businesses and externally with HSBC’s key stakeholders in developing HSBC’s response to the climate emergency and wider societal challenges. At a global level, Alex was also responsible for HSBC’s early net-zero strategy, sustainable supply chain programme, HSBC’s internal Sustainability University and HSBC’s experiential and transformational Sustainability Leadership Programme, which transformed the organisation’s approach to ESG.
Alex has a BSc from Sussex University in Environmental Science, an MSc from Imperial College in Environmental Analysis and Assessment and an MSc from Hult Ashridge Business School in Sustainability and Responsibility.
Alex consults, coaches and mentors in the NGO and finance sector through his own businesses and is the Head Tutor for CISL’s Sustainable Finance course.
