06 March 2024 - CLG UK's director discusses the short-termist nature of the recent budget announcement and the importance of speeding up the transition to net zero.

The UK Spring Budget was announced in March of this year by the Conservative government - and has been criticised for a lack of commitment to green growth. Environmental groups and think tanks responded swiftly, warning the UK would fall behind the US, Europe and other countries if nothing changes. Beverley Cornaby, director of CISL's Corporate Leaders Group UK, weighs in with her take that the very nature of the budget is flawed, as it fails to set out a long-term strategy. "We need to focus on the next six years and beyond to fundamentally transform the economy towards net zero," she says.
