He began his career at Nestlé, where he worked for 10 years. Fábio was President of Banco Real/ABN Amro and in 2008 with the acquisition of Banco Real by Santander, became CEO of Santander Brazil. He was also President of Febraban (Brazilian Banks Association) from 2007–11. Currently Fábio is a Council member of the Endeavor Enterprise Institute, which fosters entrepreneurship, and a member of the Board of the United Nations Foundation, to support the UN and promote international co-operation. In 2011, he was recognised as Person of the Year by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, and in 2012, received the United Nation’s Champions of the Earth award for his entrepreneurial vision.
