The Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership is working to support the development of new approaches to sustainability leadership within the construction industry, providing the prize for the COINS Construction Industry Grand Challenge.

The COINS Construction Industry Grand Challenge is a global competition to find young innovators and entrepreneurs who have a big idea that can positively impact the lives of millions of people.

Catherine Tilley, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership Director of Graduate and Executive Education, will act as one of the judges at the grand final which will take place later this year. The judges will be looking for proposals which address on-going sustainability leadership challenges in the sector as it emerges from the effects of the worldwide economic recession. It is anticipated that applications will range from solutions to reduce environmental impact or influencing government practices, to embracing the digital revolution.

The winner will receive a place on one of the Institute’s 2016 Postgraduate Certificates which aim to develop the skillset needed to integrate sustainability thinking into mainstream business operations. This course will deepen their understanding of how sustainability issues impact on their sector and enhance their ability to articulate the business case for sustainability. Additionally they will also experience a deep dive into a particular pressing issue and cutting-edge opportunities relating to sustainable business by being offered a place on one of our intensive two-day Sustainability Leadership Laboratories.

The Institute is pleased to be able to support such a venture and offer the winner the opportunity to join our network of sustainability leaders based throughout the world.
