30 March 2016 – Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) has been building on the success of the European Green Growth Platform by helping to support the development of a similar platform in Latin America.

The European Green Growth Platform is a collaboration between government and business leaders to explore, promote and pursue the economic and strategic opportunities of a low carbon and climate resilient future.

Taking advantage of the strong regional collaborative relationships already provided by the Pacific Alliance, CISL has facilitated a series of events since COP20 in Lima to help seed and support the development of a green growth focused platform in Latin America.

On 30 March 2016, the Pacific Alliance Environment Ministers announced the Plataforma de Crecimiento Verde following a meeting in Colombia. The announcement will help to catalyse action in this area in the region. A statement from Peruvian Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal hailed the initiative as promoting joint action on climate change between the countries of the Pacific Alliance in compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals.

CISL will continue to support the green growth efforts in the region and is also working with a number of regional countries to support them in engaging with such a platform.
