Prior to joining CISL, Jie led the Global Higher Education Demonstration Initiative in London, New York, São Paulo, and Shanghai for the Ellen Macarthur Foundation. As a circular economy expert, she also serves as a research advisor at Newham College, University of Cambridge for the Laidlaw Scholars Leadership and Research Programme. Jie has authored several publications, including "Innovation for Sustainability: The Driving Force of Circular Economy Startups" (2023), "Founders to Funders: Key Trends of Fundraisings for Circular Disruptors and Innovators" (2022), and "The Circular Economy Opportunity for Urban and Industrial Innovation in China" (2018) which was launched at the World Economic Forum.
Jie is a Non-Executive Director and Trustee at the China Dialogue, and advisory role at Undivided based in Hong Kong. She holds three Masters degrees in Sustainability Leadership from University of Cambridge, Economic and Politics of Energy and the Environment from UCL, and Environmental Planning & Management from ECNU (China).
As an ethnic minority working in a cross-cultural environment for more than a decade, she is keen to elevate Diversity, Equality & Inclusion (DE&I) in the workplace. Her achievement was recognised by the Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Award (2022) at the University of Cambridge.
