About
Dr Sibusiso Nkomo is Programme Director of the CISL Africa Programme, based in Cape Town. In this role, he shapes strategic direction in research, corporate leadership groups and multilateral engagement across CISL’s work in Africa.
He co-directs the Corporate Affairs Executive Leadership Programme, delivered in partnership with the Wits School of Governance and CISL. Sibusiso also serves as a faculty member on executive education programmes, including the Sustainability Practitioner Programme, and previously on the Business and Sustainability Programme and the FSD Africa Climate Finance Leadership Programme.
Sibusiso brings expertise in research and teaching across African governance, strategic policy communications, and media. He is an honorary research affiliate in historical studies at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He was a doctoral fellow at the NRF Archive and Public Culture Research Initiative at UCT and prior to that a visiting academic at the Centre for Social Science Research and then the Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa at UCT. His scholarly work engages with the political thought and intellectual history of news media in Southern Africa.
Prior to joining CISL, Sibusiso worked in political research and polling at Afrobarometer. He began his career in journalism, contributing to The Sunday Independent, Cape Argus, and Cape Times.
Sibusiso holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town, an MA from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and completed his undergraduate studies at Stellenbosch University.
