Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Sibusiso is the Programme Director, CISL Africa, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. He's a faculty member on CISL's Sustainability Practitioner Programme, and the Climate Finance Leadership Programme. He co-directs the Corporate Affairs Executive Leadership Programme, a joint executive education programme between CISL and the Wits School of Governance.

Biography

Sibusiso was a research associate at the University of Cape Town, including the Centre for Social Science Research, then the Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa, and lastly, and a doctoral research fellow in the Archive and Public Culture Research Initiative.

He began his professional journey in journalism writing hard news for the dailies, the Cape Argus and Cape Times followed by reporting on government and politics reporting for the weekly The Sunday Independent. After journalism, Sibusiso worked as an African politics researcher at Good Governance Africa, then joined the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation as a senior researcher on democracy and governance in Africa. Concurrently, he held positions with Afrobarometer, where he led a cross-continental Africa team in communications and later led strategic partnerships portfolio globally.

He read for a BA and Postgraduate Diploma at Stellenbosch University, a MA from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He completed a PhD at the University of Cape Town.
