Dr Irene Amoke

Irene is founder of ConserveAbility Pathways Ltd and is a landscape ecologist with over 20 years of experience in conservation science, policy, and strategic leadership. Her experience focuses on human-wildlife coexistence in fragile ecosystems, across academia, government, and the private sector in Kenya, South Africa, and the UK. 

As the founder of ConserveAbility Pathways Ltd, she helps organisations turn conservation and biodiversity goals into measurable outcomes, bridging the gap between strategy and implementation. She advises on organisational development, programme management, and sustainable financing. Irene also serves as a Strategic Advisor to the Kenya Wildlife Trust (KWT), strengthening conservation impact and institutional sustainability. She previously worked as Executive Director of KWT where she led conservation strategy development and implementation, partnerships, community engagement, and fundraising. Irene has also worked with Kenya Wildlife Service, Oxford Brookes University, the UK’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, and Operation Wallacea’s field expeditions in South Africa. 

Irene holds a PhD in Landscape Ecology, an MSc in Environmental Assessment & Management, and a BSc in Zoology. She is an Eisenhower Fellow (2022, Africa Climate Change Programme) and Women in Environment, Africa Fellow (2023), and serves on various national and international conservation boards and actively mentors emerging conservation leaders across Africa. She works closely with the team at CISL South Africa, contributing to the Climate Finance Leadership Programme and BSP Africa.
