Richard Hardyment

Richard Hardyment has nearly two decades’ experience advising and assessing companies on responsible, sustainable and ethical business practices. He was the founding Director of Research at the World Benchmarking Alliance, where he built and led a global team measuring the performance of thousands of multinational companies for investors and civil society.

He has worked closely with major organisations on impact measurement and disclosure, including roles as a Director at Corporate Citizenship and as an advisor to Forum for the Future, the Institute of Business Ethics and B Lab. He is a guest lecturer on ethics, materiality and measurement at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Imperial College London.

His first book, The Wellbeing Purpose (Routledge, 2018), explores how businesses can improve lives through their supply chains, products and marketing. His second, Measuring Good Business (Routledge, 2024), examines the challenges and future direction of sustainable business in the context of the rise and reassessment of ESG.

He holds an MA from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from Imperial College London.
