8 July 2026 - CLG Europe met Members of the European Parliament and political advisers from across the political spectrum during the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg to discuss how Europe can advance its climate ambitions while strengthening its competitiveness.
The meetings brought together CLG Europe business representatives and policymakers for discussions on some of the key priorities shaping Europe’s clean industrial transition, including electrification, the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the circular economy.
A central theme was the importance of maintaining a strong and effective EU ETS as part of a predictable policy framework that supports investment and Europe’s longer-term decarbonisation objectives. Discussions also explored the role of electrification in strengthening industrial competitiveness and energy security, alongside opportunities to accelerate the transition towards a more circular European economy.
The exchanges provided an opportunity for business leaders and policymakers to share perspectives on how Europe can pursue its climate and competitiveness objectives together, particularly as important policy decisions affecting the region’s industrial transition move forward.
CLG Europe emphasised the importance of continued dialogue between business and policymakers to ensure that Europe’s climate and industrial policies provide the clarity, ambition and conditions for investment needed to support implementation and strengthen the competitiveness of European industry.
