26 August 2025 – Starting this year CISL’s Master’s in Sustainability Leadership applicants can choose St Edmund’s to be their ‘home’ in Cambridge.
From September, when the application window opens for cohorts joining in 2026, applicants to the Master’s in Sustainability Leadership can choose St Edmund's as their College. St Edmund’s joins colleges where we have existing relationships, i.e. Fitzwilliam, and Robinson Colleges. Master’s in Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment students will continue to be members of Wolfson College.
Although students can choose any College at Cambridge, these four Colleges are well placed to host part-time Master’s students and have agreed to long-term collaborations with CISL. This ensures that our part-time Master’s students have the best available Cambridge experience during their studies and as alumni afterwards. These Colleges are not only our students' ‘home’ in Cambridge but also their ‘family’ and source of pastoral support.
The new addition, St Edmund's, was founded in 1896 and is part of the Hill Colleges along with Fitzwilliam. Like Fitzwilliam, St Edmund's also challenged status quo at its founding by focusing on improving access for disadvantaged students and traditionally excluded minorities. At the beginning of the 20th century, for example, it was the first College in over 200 years to award a degree to a Roman Catholic student at Cambridge, who were previously not allowed full membership at the University (or at Oxford). Unlike other College options for our programmes, St Edmund's is also a College specifically founded for mature students.
We are delighted that St Edmund’s will be able to join our college options and is ready to welcome our Sustainability Leadership Master’s students this year. More about CISL’s postgraduate programmes can be found here: https://www.cisl.cam.ac.uk/education/postgraduate-study
If you are interested in visiting St Edmunds, Fitzwilliam or Wolfson as a prospective student they have Postgraduate College Visit Days planned in mid-September, find out more and register here.
