Biography

She then worked for WWF from 2004 to 2015 in a variety of positions including managing Mexico´s WWF conservation portfolio as well as spearheading the WWF network efforts towards UNFCCC COP16 & Mexico´s at the time leading policies. Her latest appointment took her to academia where she headed the Research Program on Sustainable Development for Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO) in Mexico City. During this time, Vanessa spearheaded Mexico´s research on environmental poverty and the policy efforts to recognize climate resilience as a social right. Vanessa currently serves as Deputy Lead for WWF’s Global Practice on Climate & Energy. Vanessa has a bachelor’s degree in economics from IBERO, a Master’s degree in Development Policy and a PhD in Environmental Policy, both from the University of York in the United Kingdom.
