At M&S, Mike helped transform Plan A from a set of commitments into a full change‑management programme, embedding sustainability into “how M&S does business”. During this time, the company achieved zero waste to landfill, moved to 100% renewable electricity, and became carbon neutral across its global stores, offices and warehouses.
Mike also ensured that learnings from this reached far beyond M&S and has worked extensively with global platforms including the World Economic Forum, the Consumer Goods Forum and Business in the Community, helping to drive wider systemic change. His roles have included Chair of the World Environment Center, Co‑Chair of the CGF Sustainability Steering Group, Business Fellow at Oxford University and Trustee of Blueprint for Better Business.
After leaving M&S, Mike founded mikebarryeco ltd, supporting organisations across business and society to deliver meaningful, lasting sustainable change.
