14 March 2024 - Yesterday, University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership CEO, Lindsay Hooper, delivered the keynote speech at Women in Leadership Europe’s Annual Gathering at the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, in London.

The event brought together a roomful of inspirational women from sectors such as politics, fashion, technology, NGOs and education to discuss biodiversity’s role in a sustainable future; harnessing innovation; and how a new type of approach is needed to achieve a just transition and an equal future.

Lindsay said, “Working across our network of 40,000 leaders internationally, we catalyse systemic change that delivers not only for nature, but also for people and climate. That means tackling the nature and climate crises as one, addressing the shared root causes – the unintended consequences of current approaches to economic activity and growth.”

“It also means engaging directly with issues of inequality, including the ongoing challenges of gender inequality – not only because women are often disproportionately affected, but because we need all talents, all strengths and all perspectives to be engaged if we are to achieve solutions that work for everyone in society.”

Lindsay’s talk also addressed the inspiring leadership opportunity, “Our task is not to maintain current ways of doing things – but to lead progress to redesign and reinvent virtually everything that we do, and how we do it.”

Other speakers at the annual event, in partnership with Kering, included Kristina Murrin CBE, CEO of The King’s Foundation, and Shirley Rodrigues, Deputy Mayor of London, Environment and Energy.
