About
COP31 takes place in Antalya, Türkiye, against a backdrop of escalating climate impacts, geopolitical tensions and renewed concerns about energy security. While the formal negotiations will remain important, the central story of COP31 is likely to be the growing focus on implementation: how governments, businesses, investors and civil society translate climate commitments into real-world delivery.
This briefing examines the political context, Presidency priorities and key negotiating issues shaping COP31. It explores how the Türkiye-Australia Presidency is seeking to strengthen the links between negotiated outcomes and implementation, with a particular focus on electrification, resilience and investment.
For business, COP31 presents an opportunity not only to engage with negotiations, but also to help build the coalitions, investment pathways and market conditions needed to scale climate solutions.
