Sid Miller

Sid Miller has most recently worked on a range of initiatives in the London Insurance market including the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), the UK Government’s Business of Resilience, the Insurance Development Forum (IDF) to build Public Private Partnerships that address the challenges of Climate Change and Natural Disasters. He was Programme Director for ClimateWise which brings together the insurance industry with world class academic expertise and global sustainability leaders, as part of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). He retains his involvement with CISL as a Fellow. 

As the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Natural Hazards Commission (NHC), Sid led the transformation of EQC, in response to the Canterbury and Kaikoura Earthquakes, which culminated in the implementation of a world leading Public/Private Partnership for dealing with Natural Hazard Events. The model leverages the New Zealand insurance ecosystem, based around a data-sharing approach, to provide a single-settlement pathway for customers and enables improved Resilience decision making, Event Response and Recovery Management. Prior to EQC, Sid had roles in the Insurance sector as General Manager Claims and Chief Customer Officer at the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and AXA New Zealand including the merger with AMP. 

Sid has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Coventry University and an MBA from Lancaster University
