Time for take-off! First electric flight takes off from Cambridge Airport
9 May 2025 - This week has seen the first flights made by an electric plane from Cambridge Airport. It was a cross-collaboration with the Whittle Laboratory via the Aviation Impact Accelerator (AIA) and a good opportunity to show the sort of work that CISL and AIA are doing with the University.
The flight was featured online in the Cambridge Independent (and will appear as a double-page spread in the physical copy of the newspaper next week): Milestone as first electric flight takes off from Cambridge Airport
BBC Radio Cambridgeshirebroadcast an interview with AIA/Whittle researcher Deepanshu Singh on Thursday morning.
And on Wednesday evening, ITV Anglia spoke to Adam Twidell and Deepanshu Singh. The piece went out on the evening news bulletin.
