Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Lindsay at Reuters Responsible Business

13 June 2024 - CISL spoke on two panels focused on the essential role of businesses in the transition to net zero.

Lindsay Hooper, the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership’s CEO, spoke on a panel on building a resilient roadmap to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable future during Reuters Responsible Business Europe 2024 conference. Lindsay sat alongside Douglas Lamont from Tony's Chocolonely, Peter Jelkeby from IKEA and Sarah Mukherjee MBE from IEMA.

Conversation focused on the importance of businesses setting the bar in sustainability; aligning ambitions to unlock systems change and how collaboration across sectors is essential to transition to net zero.

Lindsay Hooper, CEO, CISL, said:

The discussion highlighted that the political landscape is fragmented but businesses can be clear and consistent in engaging across the political spectrum. They can make the case that action to address sustainability challenges is good for business, good for economies and good for societies.

Earlier in the day, Eliot Whittington, Chief Systems Change Officer, moderated the opening Strategy Keynote for the conference alongside Renata Jungo Brungger from Mercedes-Benz Group and Steve Kenzie from UN Global Compact Network UK.

The speakers gave insights into how CEOs and C-Suite can integrate sustainability throughout the business, and frame sustainability as a departmental imperative, from legal and procurement to finance and innovation.

Responsible Business Europe brings together senior business leaders, industry experts and regulatory bodies in London to highlight market-leading solutions to the current challenges faced by a responsible business leader.  This year’s cross-functional speaker faculty outlined how companies can integrate sustainability across the organisation to create impactful change and showcase true business leadership.
