Hosted by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) in partnership with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and X‑Hub Tokyo, this Demo Day brings together a curated cohort of Japanese startups delivering high-impact solutions across sustainability, mobility, resource recovery, robotics and more. You’ll engage with global entrepreneurs, explore breakthrough innovation and connect with UK-based corporates, investors and partners.

Meet the pioneering cohort

These seven startups represent the next wave of Japanese innovation:

Amperact — A Tokyo-based startup offering a patent-protected EV charging platform, selected for JETRO’s “Local to Global Success Program”.

Ashirase — Born out of Honda’s IGNITION programme, developing a shoe-mounted navigation system for visually impaired users using motion sensing and vibration-guided feedback.

Asuene — A climate-tech B-Corp delivering a cloud-based platform for carbon accounting, ESG supply-chain evaluation and decarbonisation; recently acquired US-based NZero to expand globally.

Emulsion Flow Technologies (EFT) — Spun out of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency; commercialising a breakthrough solvent-extraction process for rare metals from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries.

Innoqua — Founded by coral aquarists and AI engineers from the University of Tokyo; builds IoT/AI systems to recreate natural ecosystems for marine conservation and experimentation.

PEEL Lab — Based in Osaka, producing plant-based leather alternatives by upcycling fruit peels, supporting corporates with eco-leather design & production services.

WOTA CORP — Tokyo-based innovator in decentralised water reuse systems, including the WOTA BOX unit and further portable solutions advancing water resilience and accessibility.
