Electrification is a major opportunity to build more competitive, secure and resilient economies. By moving transport, heating and industrial processes away from fossil fuels, businesses can improve efficiency, reduce exposure to volatile energy markets and cut emissions. 

The challenge is to create market conditions that enable electrification to scale. This means aligning clean power generation, grids, infrastructure, finance, policy, skills and business demand so that electric solutions can compete, attract investment and become mainstream. Shaping these conditions can reduce exposure to volatile fossil fuel markets, improve productivity and support more resilient economies. 

Our work to unlock faster progress

CISL works with businesses, policymakers, investors and innovators to shape the market conditions needed for electrification to scale. We build the evidence and business case for action, convene leaders around shared barriers and support policy, investment and innovation that accelerate deployment. 

• Through new economic modelling, we have demonstrated how faster electrification can strengthen competitiveness, energy security and long-term resilience. 
• We are helping to shape the public debate by making the case for greater urgency in the energy transition. 
• We’re convening business leaders to call for stronger electrification policies across Europe, and bringing together businesses, governments and experts to identify the collective action needed to accelerate progress.  
• Alongside this, our wider work on innovation, finance and systems transformation explores how to unlock investment, scale new technologies and create the market conditions needed to accelerate economy-wide electrification.  

Together, these initiatives are helping to build the evidence, leadership and partnerships needed to unlock the full economic, environmental and societal benefits of electrification.

Partnering to accelerate electrification 

CISL works with partners to build the evidence, coalitions and market conditions needed to turn electrification’s potential into economy-wide progress. 

Electrify Now campaign 

CISL is a partner of the Electrify Now campaign, a movement of business groups, think tanks and civil society organisations and governments united by the mission to accelerate the rate and rollout of electrification, and fast-track a renewable, electric future. Launched at LCAW, the campaign calls on governments to work together to quadruple the current rate of electrification and achieve 35% electrification by 2035 globally.  

Through our Corporate Leaders Groups, we’re also pleased to be part of the Electric Advantage programme from the We Mean Business Coalition.
