Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Seashore cliffs

18 February 2025 – The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has launched white label training materials to help corporates and financial institutions build their nature-related capabilities.

We are delighted to share that the  TNFD has launched a suite of ‘white label’ training materials that can be used by training providers and market participants, to build capabilities across both corporates and financial institutions.

CISL has been working in partnership with the TNFD to develop these learning materials, which aim to address the capacity gaps on nature that impede organisations from identifying, assessing, managing and disclosing their nature-related issues. The high quality, adaptable training materials are openly-available through the TNFD website and ensure that the market has access to consistent, quality information that is needed to scale up business action on nature.

Thomas Vergunst, Programme Director at CISL reflected:

“We have been thrilled to partner with the TNFD to create dynamic learning materials that highlight the urgency of nature-related issues for corporates and financial institutions. These free resources will provide clear guidance on good practices and actionable steps, empowering organisations to drive real change. At CISL, we’re excited to incorporate these materials into our education programmes and help boards, leadership teams and practitioners stay ahead on nature and the TNFD recommended disclosures."

To support the delivery of these training materials CISL, in partnership with the TNFD, held a train the trainer workshop on the 28-30 January 2025. Here are some examples of the delegates feedback from this workshop:

“I found the TNFD/CISL TTT training to be informative, interactive and comprehensive.  I feel I am now equipped to engage the marketplace with knowledge and an understanding of the TNFD I did not have going into the training.”

“The training has greatly enabled me to support the banking industry to build their capacity in order for them to appreciate the TNFD recommendations. I look forward to the work ahead in terms of building the industry's capacity.”

 Scaling impact through training

In January, CISL and the TNFD used the white labelled training materials to deliver  a ‘train the trainer’ workshop to a global network of training providers. These trainers will go on to deliver the training for maximum global impact and reach. You can read the wrap up on LinkedIn here.

Delegate feedback from the workshops include:

"I found the TNFD/CISL training to be informative, interactive and comprehensive.  I feel I am now equipped to engage the marketplace with knowledge and an understanding of the TNFD I did not have going into the training."

"I have learnt so much and am looking forward to using the insights to think about how best I can support companies and financial institutions to adopt the TNFD recommendations going forward."

"I have used the TNFD in a Box previously, together with more nuanced personal additions. The white label material 'pull' it all together nicely, and offers the flexibility of adapting to audience focus and requirements."
