A unique workshop examining the links between knowledge and climate-related action through the lens of misinformation will take place at the Congress on 17 June. The interactive workshop will explore the role of scholarly communication in tackling climate misinformation; navigating the responsibilities and risks of engaging in public discourse. It will be led by representatives of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Cambridge Zero, Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Cambridge Judge Business School.
The workshop will delve into the critical role of higher education, the publishing and research ecosystem that supports it, and those across government, business and civil society in strengthening evidence-based knowledge, critical thinking and climate action. Speakers and workshop attendees will share their insights and perspectives on the following:
- How to build knowledge and skills to tackle the climate crisis in this interconnected, complex and mis-truthful world
- Implications for policy and action across academia, government, business and civil society
- Exploring the use of AI-assisted tools to synthesise and scale up access to climate knowledge.
The session will convene a diverse range of prominent experts across climate change-related research and education and misinformation, from around the world. Speakers will include Christine Özden, Professor Mike Berners-Lee, Professor Alan Jagolinzer, Katherine Stiff and Dr Sam Reynolds. Contributors will include Eliot Higgins, Professor Maxwell Boykoff, Professor Nicola Walshe, Lindsay Hooper, Professor Magda Osman, Dr Ramit Debnath and Dr Sadiq Jaffer.
