The Labs offer a deep dive into topics which have been shaped around four key themes:

Operationalising Sustainability: 11–12 October 2016

Implement tools to analyse current sustainability practices and develop action plans to address challenges. The next workshop will focus on natural capital.

Sustainable Innovation: 2425 November 2016

Learn how new business models can help you respond to pressing sustainability challenges. The next workshop will focus on using innovation to achieve sustainable growth.

Learn how to develop your capabilities for cross-organisational leadership. The next workshop will focus on the individual skills needed for collaboration.

Sustainable Finance: 89 May 2017

Explore how sustainable products and services can be developed and utilised for finance. The next workshop will focus on capturing impact from investment portfolios.

Responding to topical sustainability trends in a practical way


These two-day immersive workshops will help you tackle emerging opportunities for a more sustainable business. With access to cutting-edge insight and best practice, you will continue your professional development, collaborate with practitioners and network with peers – with real application to your organisation.

Shaped around four theme key themes; operationalising sustainability, sustainable innovation, sustainability leadership and sustainable finance, each workshop will provide a deep dive into topics such as life cycle analysis, big data, sustainable investment, employee buy-in and vision, environmental impact assessment and frugal innovation.

The workshop is committed to delivering action-based learning. Participants are invited to submit a case study about their organisation which may be discussed during workshop exercises. The course will also include structured planning sessions for all participants to reflect on their learning, develop an action plan and articulate this plan to peers for constructive feedback. Continue your professional development

We welcome you to join the Lab as a standalone CPD course or sign up for multiple as part of your long-term development. You can also use your attendance as credit towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Business (PG Dip).

The PG Dip offers a ‘deep dive’ into topical and emergent leadership responses to sustainability in a business context. Equivalent to two-thirds of a Master’s, the PG Dip is worth 120 CATS points and provides an academically rigoruous but practically focused alternative route to the full Master’s programme.

Selection criteria

Applicants should be committed to using learning from the Labs to lead or influence change within the business context and should been proficient in the English language. We also ask that applicants have completed a previous programme at CISL or hold a sustainability position with significant work experience in sustainability.

In some cases non-alumni who are not in sustainability roles will be accepted on a Lab at the discretion of the Lab Director and dependent on the applicant’s experience, interests and motivation for attending.

Fees

Our long history of running professional development courses has shown that there is an increased value to organisations when they send multiple participants to share the learning experience. To facilitate this, we offer organisations a substantial discount when they send more than one participant.
