Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Oliver Dudok van Heel is a CISL Fellow and the Global Sustainability Director with strategy consultants Kearney where he supports clients in their transition to a sustainable future. Previously he was Head of Client Sustainability and Environment with law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he led the development and implementation of the firm's approach to sustainability. He led the New York Circular City Initiative, a collaboration of leaders from the city, its businesses and key thought leaders to help New York make the transition to the circular economy.

Biography

Oliver Dudok van Heel is a CISL Fellow and the Global Sustainability Director with strategy consultants Kearney where he supports clients in their transition to a sustainable future. Previously he was Head of Client Sustainability and Environment with law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he led the development and implementation of the firm's approach to sustainability. He led the New York Circular City Initiative, a collaboration of leaders from the city, its businesses and key thought leaders to help New York make the transition to the circular economy. 

He was Director of The Aldersgate Group, an alliance of leaders from business, government and society that is seeking to develop sustainable policy change. Before that he was Sustainability Director with creative agency Radley Yeldar, working to get the message of sustainability across to internal and external stakeholders. He started his career as a strategy consultant with Arthur D. Little, Monitor, SustainAbility and Enviros. 

Oliver is a tutor on CISL's Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Business and some of CISL’s executive programmes. He is passionate about redefining the purpose of our economy as the key systemic lever to achieve the transition to the circular economy. 

He is also a Fellow of CUSP, the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity where he focuses on identifying ways to develop an authentic positive narrative which will help deliver genuine sustainable prosperity. He was an active member of Transition Town Lewes and helped launch the Lewes Pound to support the local community and reduce its carbon footprint. 

Oliver speaks English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish and Portuguese and holds a Master’s of Law and an Insead MBA. He lives in Sussex with his wife and three children.
