Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Jenny is a practitioner, researcher and teacher of sustainability with over 30 years’ experience. She is Director of Western Australian consulting firm Integral Sustainability, which works with business and government to integrate sustainability objectives and strategies into decision-making processes and operational practices on the ground.

Biography

She was a member of the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia (a statutory board that provides independent advice to government on environmental matters) from 2018-2023. Jenny also holds honorary academic positions at universities in Australia, South Africa and the UK. As a Fellow of CISL, she has been a first year supervisor, dissertation supervisor and member of the core teaching team on the MSt programme since the first cohort. Jenny has qualifications in chemical engineering and public policy, and much of her work, including her PhD research has been focused on environmental management and sustainability as they relate to industrial operations and projects. She is both a researcher and a practitioner of impact assessment in various forms, including environmental impact assessment, social impact assessment, sustainability assessment and cumulative effects assessment. Jenny has found that her own work at the nexus of practice and research provides an ideal basis from which to support students to drive real change for sustainability in a way that is informed by insights from research and academic rigour.
