Biography
David’s research and practice is interdisciplinary. Following music and geography (first degree) he converted through Master's degrees in civil engineering, transport planning and marketing to a focus on promoting the sustainable built environment.
Working in the public sector and with strategic partnerships of industry and education he founded and is director of the SmartLIFE™ centres in Cambridge. SmartLIFE™ specialises in skills for modern methods of construction and renewable energy.
Over recent years he has been the originator and promoter of the “Hive” – now a multi-million pound enterprise and skills park connecting start-ups, SMEs and social enterprises in clean-tech and environmental fields.
David has a PhD in corporate strategy, specializing in reflective practice into emotions in organisations. He supervises doctorate students at the Lord Ashcroft Business School and has been external examiner for Master's dissertations in engineering and architecture disciplines.
