Business and Social Justice Webinar

Janet Pope, Former Chief Sustainability Officer at Lloyds Group and former student of the Business and Social Justice: A Force for Social Change 8-week online course, will speak to Course Co-Convenors Elspeth Donovan and Priya Rajasekar.

In this conversation, the speakers will discuss the role of business in driving social change. Janet will provide insights as to how the course influenced her perspective on the sustainability crisis and the importance of businesses placing social justice at the core of operations. The discussion will also delve deeper into the practical application of the course learnings.

Profiles:

Elspeth Donovan - Elspeth is a CISL Fellow and Co-Convenor of the Business and Social Justice: A Force for Social Change online short course. Elspeth’s interest in Sustainability, Well-Being & Human Development comes from her science background when she studied Zoology, Biochemistry and Dietetics and much later on in life an MBA.  

Prija Rajasekar - Priya has had a career of 25 years, working in business, journalism and academia in Ireland, India and the United Kingdom. Priya’s interdisciplinary research expertise straddles cultural studies, politics, environmental and social justice – themes that she has also covered as a journalist and columnist. She is a Programme Manager at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and Co-Convenor of the Business and Social Justice: A Force for Social Change online short course. 

Janet Pope - Janet most recently served as Chief of Staff and Chief Sustainability Officer at Lloyds Banking Group, a Group Executive Committee role. Here she led on a variety of purpose related issues including access to affordable, quality and sustainable homes, inclusion and sustainability. Janet has a number of non executive roles including Chair, Charities Aid Foundation Bank and Trustee StepChange, the debt advisory charity.
