About the role

This exciting role is based in the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)'s Cambridge office, as part of our Centre for Policy and Industrial Transformation (CPIT). It is an opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced team that engages with senior business leaders and both UK and European policy makers to support the transition to a net zero economy.

CPIT works at UK, EU, member state and international levels to deliver influential projects that include the Corporate Leaders Groups, the Aviation Impact Accelerator, the EU Green Growth Partnership and the UK Business Group Alliance for Net Zero. We work closely with a number of partners through being a founding partner of the We Mean Business Coalition.

The purpose of this role will be to provide a senior level of project management support to the CPIT team's work, including undertaking research and analysis that that generate insights into key policy areas. The post will work across the team and support a range of additional projects, including on UK, EU and International policy, including the management of some of our more complex grant funded work.

We are looking for someone with a strong record of accomplishment in senior level project management to support the development and delivery of this portfolio. You will work alongside the Team Director and Programme Managers to put in place efficient delivery plans for complex programmes. These will ensure that the programmes are delivered within budget in a timely and efficient manner.

Key skills and experience

Applicants must be committed to the values that underpin CISL’s work and will be expected to demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

•    Experience of senior project management, including managing project teams, financial planning and delivering work to a high quality within project budgets and tight timeframes
•    Experience of complex grant management, delivery and reporting 
•    Experience and confidence working closely with senior stakeholders in the corporate or policy worlds
•    Experience of managing and delivering events, online or in person
•    Advanced analysis, research and communication skills; the ability to summarise and present findings in written and oral format
•    Ability to work on own initiative and co-ordinate work with others
•    Ability to manage multiple projects at any one-time, maximising synergies between projects, reviewing progress against targets and adapting as required 
•    Ability to deliver professional, compelling project outputs
•    Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships 
•    Ability to think strategically and anticipate developments to avoid and mitigate problems
•    High level of competence across Microsoft packages
•    Ability to make complex content accessible to a wide range of audiences

The following attributes are desirable:

•    Good awareness of UK or EU policy making or international policy processes.
•    Knowledge of University of Cambridge administrative processes and finance system.
