The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) is seeking an experienced and motivated PA to provide key support for a member of our senior leadership team and facilitate wider departmental activity. This post is available as a 12-month fixed term contract, providing maternity cover.

CISL is a globally influential institute within the University of Cambridge working on a mission to develop leadership and solutions towards a sustainable economy. Our work has never been more relevant as leaders in business and government look to 'build back better' from the Covid-19 global pandemic. In our eyes, this means an economic recovery which prioritises investment and innovation in solutions to climate change, the restoration of nature, whilst delivering inclusive, resilient societies.

This role will provide a high level of professional administrative support to CISL's Chief Operating Officer, and will act as a crucial link between the role's occupant and fellow staff within the Institute, as well as the wider University community and both national and international contacts. This position provides the opportunity for a varied and diverse workload and will require proficiency in time management as well as strong interpersonal skills.

As PA to our Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will also be an active member of CISL's Executive Support team, assisting the EA to the Director when required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management and the ability to prioritise a diverse and changing workload, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills in person, via email and on the phone, and confidence and experience in communicating effectively across all levels both within the Institute and with external visitors.
  • Previous PA or secretarial experience in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Experience of diary management; including scheduling, planning, preparation, and prompt and effective follow up.
  • Capability to manage correspondence on behalf of senior members of staff, determining priorities and drafting appropriate approaches and responses.
  • Highly competent in standard software packages (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook).

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
