We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Finance Assistant to join our busy Finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills, across a broad range of module. This is a part-time post (50% FTE) based in Cambridge.


The role

As a member of CISL’s Finance team, the Finance Assistant will support the team primarily through financial administration activities, handling day-to-day queries and escalating when required.  Your role will be focussed on processing, recording and monitoring financial transactions (AP, AR, General Ledger, Grants, Fixed Assets and Purchasing), ensuring compliance with the University's financial procedures. You will also provide general administrative support across the team including filing, reordering stationary and consumables. 


Key skills and experience:

  • • Educated to A-level standard or equivalent, with GCSE English and Maths.
  • • Experienced user of Microsoft Office, especially skilled with Microsoft Excel.
  • • Demonstrate knowledge of facts, principles, processes and general concepts related to Finance and Accounts.
  • • Experience in preparation of purchase orders and processing expense claims.
  • • Experience of following office procedures.
  • • Ability to work in a team and to prioritise own workload effectively.
  • • Confidence and tact in dealing with people at all levels within and beyond the University.
  • • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • • Flexible approach, with a willingness to take on additional duties as necessary.
  • • Experience with the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS), iProcurement, etc. (desirable).
