Communications and Marketing Executive

Salary: £29,176 - £34,804

Vacancy reference number EN20100

The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) is a globally influential institute developing leadership and solutions for a sustainable economy. The Communications and Marketing Executive sits within our Corporate Relations and Communications team, which contributes to CISL’s long-term growth and strategic impact by building our reputation and profile as a global thought leader and attracting outstanding global executives to our Education and Leadership Programmes.

As Communications and Marketing Executive you will play a pivotal role, sitting in a central team, but working across portfolios and markets.

This opportunity comes at a particularly exciting time for the Institute. This year we are looking forward to launching a number of new initiatives, including a start-up incubator for SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises) in the Cambridge and Peterborough region, alongside a new advisory service for corporates. In 2020 we will also be moving to a retrofitted ultra-low carbon building in the centre of Cambridge, which will serve as a collaboration zone and catalyst for research, education, engagement and sustainable change.

We are looking for an ambitious self-starter, who can both build on the success we have had to date and also bring in new ideas, fresh thinking and professional practice to our communications and marketing operations. We are a commercially focused, yet mission driven institute, and this role provides exceptional opportunities for development for the right individual.

The role has a particular focus on:

  • Managing the delivery of CISL communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Managing CISL’s social media presence on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Developing new content for marketing collateral, responding to enquiries and inbound leads.
  • Providing communications training and inductions to teams across CISL.
  • Project management of the internal production timeline for new CISL publications.
  • Creating new content for a range of channels including marketing campaigns, website news items, marketing emails, website pages and social media.
  • Supporting the development and management of CISL’s alumni network.

Applicants must be committed to the values that underpin CISL’s work and will be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Degree level qualification in relevant subject/Level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of a broad range of internal and external communications disciplines (e.g. media, brand/publications, marketing campaigns).
  • Demonstrable capability of communicating complex information to a diverse audience.
  • Experience of managing social media channels.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to use web content management systems, particularly Plone/Falcon or Drupal.
  • Technical skills in using online platforms and social media 2.0 channels.

This post is full-time and located in Cambridge. CISL is an equal opportunities employer and candidates from all backgrounds and predispositions are encouraged to apply. Informal enquiries may be made to CISL Human Resources team, human.Resources@cisl.cam.ac.uk.
