Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)

Mona joined CISL’s Executive Education team in December 2021.  As part of the Strategy Portfolio, she engages both real economy and finance sector clients from leading organisations to help them explore the strategic and practical implications of social and environmental risks and opportunities. Mona has responsibility for ensuring that programmes, platforms and projects are run successfully and that they are designed to deliver lasting impact.

Biography

Prior to joining CISL, Mona consulted for several years with the Education sector at UNESCO, focusing on Education for Sustainable Development and youth empowerment;  leading participatory and creative engagements in sustainability and policy matters; and supporting the coordination and monitoring of SDG4–Education 2030 Agenda in the Arab region.

Mona has a highly inter-disciplinary background, having worked with a wide range of stakeholders and institutions. She has worked with UNICEF, UNDP, ESCWA and a range of other global civic and environmental organisations, covering landscapes management,  public health and well-being, social inclusion, gender equality and women empowerment, as well as emergency response and crisis management. She has also worked as a university instructor on business ethics and sustainability at the École Supérieure des Affaires in Beirut. Mona holds a PhD from the UK in sustainable development and wellbeing, with a focus on climate change education and engagement.
