Our transition to a low carbon economy is unstoppable

last modified Jun 02, 2017 12:08 PM
2 June 2017 – Message from Dame Polly Courtice, DBE, LVO, Founder Director, University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

"The collective determination of leaders worldwide to transition to a low carbon economy is an unstoppable force, backed by the moral authority of knowing that it is good for society, good for the economy, and good for business.

The historic Paris Agreement was built on a foundation of commitments and goodwill from nations and institutional leaders worldwide. This makes it unique in global governance terms and I believe it will be too strong for any individual nation to derail.

Inevitably there will be setbacks and the path will not be smooth. But we have the global will, we have the means, and we now need to tap into our human capacity to create a fair and sustainable economy for all."
